Working in Indianapolis

Working Indianapolis

Working Indianapolis

I have added another State Museum image from my recent visit. I really like this one because of the silhouette from the ISM exhibit with the Indy Skyline in the background.

The trick I had with this was getting the right exposure to keep the “workers” in silhouette while getting a crisp color from the skyline. A little Photoshop work on the image helped bring out those features.

I do hope soon (after school) to get something different from the ISM.  It is a great place to visit, but there is more to Indianapolis than just the ISM.

Indianapolis from the Canal

Downtown From the Canal

Downtown From the Canal

After leaving the Indiana State Museum, we took a walk on the canal. It was a beautiful day. Warm, sunny, and everyone was out enjoying the day at the canal.

There is lots to do on the canal. Pedal boats, assorted bikes, gondola rides, murals, bridges, fountains, a waterside cafe at the History Center, waterfalls and my favorite, relaxing.

I like taking some of my photos and ramping up the contrast and turning them into black & white photos. With the right lighting, it can produce some very nice images.

The Indiana State Museum

INDIANA in the State Museum

Come see INDIANA at the State Museum

I recently visited the Indiana State Museum. It was the first time, in a long time, that I took the full tour. It is a beautiful structure and well laid out. As you enter from the canal side, you are greated by this large INDIANA sculpture. Simple, but elegant.

When you visit the Indiana State Museum, you must have lunch at the L.S. Ayres Tea Room. It is a replica of the famous Indiana Tea Room that use to be in the the old L.S. Ayres downtown store. The atmosphere is great and the food is awesome. A must place to eat for lunch.

Indianapolis Skyline

Indianapolis From East to West

Indianapolis, from the Interstate

A few years ago, I happen to have my camera next to me as I was traveling to work. It was a bright, sunny day and the Indianapolis skyline looked really nice. So, I took my camera, opened my window and pointed in the general direction of the skyline while whizzing by at 55 MPH.

Of the 30 or so images that I took, this is about one of 3 that came out decent. With a little Photoshop work (Mainly to take out power lines) this picture came out really nice.

I always look at the Indianapolis skyline as I pass by. Doesn’t matter if I am on I-70, I-65 or the interchange. All points look good.
